One of the reasons we named our game 'Causeway' is that it reminds us of a road.
We recognise that the road to inclusion in competitive games is a long one, and not everyone who talks about it actually walks the distance.
To help make it clear that Causeway will be a game for anybody to enjoy, we've listed below a few things we're committing to do:
In Our Game...
- Engage communities who are under-represented in the lane-pushing space in our development from as early as possible. → meet them!
- Represent among our playable characters a variety of human traits, personalities, backgrounds, genders, ages, and shapes and sizes. → read more
- Expand genre narratives by including Tend and Befriend themes, which may appeal to a wider audience of players. → read more
- Adopt a forward-thinking Code of Conduct which guides how we celebrate and moderate our users. → read it
- Support accessibility features early and often. → read more
- Lead by example as a development team that's actively engaged with our community.
As a Team...
- Grow our team following best practices in inclusive hiring, including for leadership roles.
- Foster a welcoming workspace, and train staff to understand best practices in this area.
- Pay for consultancy on topics we'd like to cover when we're not experts.
We have not honoured all of these commitments yet. For us, this is a journey that we've chosen — because it aligns with our values and we believe the best version of our game and community is waiting down this road.
We look forward to seeing you along the way!
